Bollnäs Kommun is a public body with responsibility for basic health-care, social and educational issues. One of the municipal departments is Adult Learning and Employment responsible for adult education from basic up to post upper secondary level and labour market activities for unemployed persons.
The Labour and Transportation Department of Sandvikens Kommun has responsibility for labour market activities for unemployed citizens & integration of newly arrived immigrants, regional and transnational cooperation & project administration.
Their results are considered together. They reached 36 job seekers and 43 employees in total.
Both the municipalities found it difficult to engage employers. For Sandvikens the general feeling was that employees/employers thought the material was “heavy” and took more time than they anticipated. They felt 10 to 15 minutes at a time was enough, although it is felt that more time would be happily spent on it if subject was of interest or relevance.
Jobseekers were supported by job coaches. Coaches/mentors and participants worked together, discussing material with the aid of a data screen. After that participants continued processing the material by themselves under supervision. It was felt participants got the hang of e-learning quickly and it was suggested that it could be used more in regular classes.
